Braga is the oldest Portuguese cities and towns of the ancient Christian world. At the time of the Romans was known as Augusta Bracara and has more than 2000 years of history as a city. It is a city full of culture and traditions, where history and religion live side by side with the technology industry.
The Greek astronomer and geographer Claudius Ptolemeos (c. 85 - c. 165), in the middle of the second century, said in his book - "Geography" (v. 8) - that the city of Augusta was Bracara before the Roman invasion of Iberian Peninsula. The recent archaeological research, conducted by the University of Minho, identified a plant with some defensive polygonal, enhanced by plant semicircular turrets, dating back to the third century.
